SEAL IT WITH A KISS AT BLARNEY STONE

For a date with a little extra magic, take a trip to Blarney Castle & Gardens. Be enchanted with tales of magic and mystery as you tour the gardens before heading to the top of the castle to kiss the Blarney Stone and bestow yourself and your date with the ‘Gift of the gab’. If you have been swept away by the dizzying heights, make your way back to the city centre where our mixologists at The MET will be happy to whip up a cocktail concoction to settle your nerves.

VALENTINE’S DINNER

It is no secret that food is the key to the heart and this Valentine’s we are treating romantic couples to a very special 7-course dining experience in our Riverview Restaurant, overlooking the river. Featuring a mix of delectable savoury dishes and sharing plates, this is an experience not to be missed.

CROSS THE BRIDGE TO HARLEY’S STREAT

If you’d prefer to keep things casual, take a romantic stroll through the city, over some of Cork’s best bridges, starting at the famous ‘Shakey Bridge’ and then make your way down towards The Metropole Hotel, crossing Cork’s oldest bridge en route, dating from 1713 – the Southgate bridge, then off to Cork’s newest bridge the Mary Elmes Before stopping for sweet treats and tacos on Harley’s StrEAT.

Bevs & Brews and Taco Rebel have covered (&heated!) seating on Harley’s Street, adjacent to the Metropole Hotel.

They will be serving up gooey and delicious chocolate-dipped strawberries as well as a range of Prosecco cocktails. Don’t forget to grab a selfie along the colourful backdrop of Harley St. featuring designs by Irish graffiti artists Shane O’Driscoll/Ardu Street Art and Kevin O’Brien/Mad About Cork as a souvenir from the date!

DOODLE DATE

If your date prefers the cultural side of life, why not take them on a very unique ‘doodle date’ at Crawford Art Gallery? Pens and notepads can be procured at Unbound, on Bridge Street (near our hotel) and you can then challenge your date to a doodle extravaganza at the gallery. Each person must doodle sculptures, or other art pieces in the gallery using these three methods (or make up your own):

Draw with your non-dominant hand
Drawing must be completed in one single line – your pen cannot come off the paper at any point
Complete drawing while holding the pencil as far away from the nib as possible

After you have broken the ice, pondered some art, and completed some terrible (or perhaps very artistic) doodles, mosey on over to us at The Metropole Hotel for a delicious lunch, cocktails or even dinner to finish a wonderful date.

AFTERNOON TEA AT THE MET

An alternative way to celebrate the holiday with friends, a sibling or even your mum! Our Valentine-themed afternoon tea has a delightful assortment of sweet and savoury treats, enjoy a delectable Afternoon Tea in our stunning tearoom. Filled with light, decadent and flavourful dishes and freshly baked sweet treats, foodies love spending an afternoon tea at The MET. Why not treat yourself and enjoy a bottle of Moet Rose?
