The Future of Meetings

The Future of Meetings

As the we all adjust to the new normal & changes to our working life, it is important for us to remember, the show must go on. Meetings, events & conferences will continue to take place, whether it be in-person, virtually or a mix of both. Looking ahead to the future, our Conference & Events Sales Manager Janice Casey, lets us know what she thinks will be upcoming meeting trends in 2021 & 2022.

1. Virtually Connected

Virtual calls were vital to us these past few months, and this will not change in the short term. The need to facilitate a virtual option for your meeting or event remains, especially while global travel restrictions persist and domestic travel re-opens. Our flexible Hybrid conferencing options and in-room technology such as Clickshare and Plasma screens allow for easy virtual conferencing. We can also facilitate much larger events across multiple venue spaces with a professional AV team to stream live, perfect when you need to communicate with both in-person and virtual attendees working from home or dialing in from global offices.

2. Creative Conferencing

One thing we know for sure is that people have adapted to new ways of working while working from home. Attention spans are a little shorter and it can be hard to focus on conversations for extended periods of time when you are used to being on your own at home. For this reason, changing the format of meetings and events can help you to increase attendee engagement and interactivity. We offer multiple breakout rooms to facilitate smaller group discussions, we work with TeamBuild to provide you with treasure hunts and escape rooms in our hotel for some team bonding and we can offer after-meeting activities to wind down after a day brainstorming with our G&T tastings and cocktail making classes in our private snug at The MET.

3. Safety Prioritised

At the Metropole Hotel Cork, we have adapted to ensure we exceed the highest standard of safety and cleanliness across all areas of the hotel to offer safe and secure environment for all. We have a dedicated Health and Safety Officer to ensure everyone feels safe with us and that business can continue for our clients. We have also been awarded the Fáilte Ireland Covid Safety Charter accreditation which recognises that we go beyond the industry standard when it comes to our cleaning policies and procedures. It also means that we are subject to impromptu site visits by Fáilte Ireland and that all our team have completed rigorous training.

4. Zoom Rooms

As mentioned before, video conferencing is here to stay. With that, is the need for dedicated meeting rooms, or ‘Zoom rooms,’ where participants can make use of a sole place for holding online meetings. Like hot-desking, ‘Zoom Rooms’ allow people to make use of a room with the technology, WIFI speed and acoustics required for a day of virtual meetings and calls. Perfect for those still working from home who do not have a quiet space to hold meetings, we offer competitive rates in our spacious meeting rooms, complete with delicious dining options.

The pandemic has meant that venues have had to rethink and redefine their options for delegates. At The Metropole Hotel, we offer a flexible and bespoke planning service for your next meeting or event to cater for a variety of needs. Our Conference & Events Sales Manager Janice Casey can discuss options with you.
