Blarney Castle

For a little extra magic, we were inspired by this amazing shoot from Ema Wedding Co. at Blarney Castle. The grounds of Blarney Castle & Gardens are filled with floral and romantic settings to act as the perfect backdrop for your proposal – as well as the magnificent 15th-century castle itself.

The postcard-perfect Gougane Barra is an utterly enchanting spot to pop the question. Surrounded by rolling hills, and the site of an ancient monastery and its very own swans, it has everything you need for a positively idyllic proposal, it even looks romantic in the rain!

Anywhere in Kinsale

Voted Ireland’s most scenic town, there is an absolute abundance of incredibly scenic spots to propose in Kinsale. We were absolutely taken back by some incredible photos from Sarah Kate Photography who shows just how unique and beautiful this corner of Cork is. From Charles Fort and Roberts Cove to the Old Head and the colourful Market Street Square, you’ll have no shortage of spots to choose from and some incredible photos to look back on.

Shandon Bells

What could be more breathtaking than a proposal atop one of Cork’s most iconic landmarks and one of the oldest clocktowers in Ireland? Built in 1722, Shandon Bells offers an amazing 360-degree view of the city so you can take in the sights after you have said ‘I do’.

Ballycotton Cliff Walk

A personal favourite of our team is the incredibly scenic Ballycotton Cliff Walk in East Cork. It is a location you will definitely need to scout out ahead of time, but the views and natural setting are definitely worth the trip. We were particularly enamoured with these beautiful images by David Duignan Photography of a shoot he did near there which gives a little glimpse into how beautiful Ballycotton really is.

UCC

Lots of couples love to return to where they met to propose at it holds special memories – and for many Cork couples, that place happens to be University College Cork! If you don’t want to get caught in the tide of students, the best time for an undisturbed stroll around the campus would be summertime and the most scenic spots to pop the question are in and around the historic Main Quad and Aula Maxima. We particularly love this image from Andrew O’Dwyer photography which captures a little of the history, romance and magic floating in the air at this location.

Blackrock Castle

A much-loved spot for wedding day shoots, Blackrock Castle also provides a wonderful backdrop for a romantic proposal that was written in the stars. You could choose to propose on the towertop, in the planetarium, on the harbour terrace, or from the water if you book a private boat tour with Cork Harbour Cruises or Ocean Escapes

Shakey Bridge

For many Cork couples, a stroll through the haven that is Fitzgerald Park and the iconic Shakey Bridge is a traditional first date. Reenact your love story when you propose and pop the question on the bridge, alongside the pond or in the picturesque Sky Garden overlooking the Lee, which was created by Dermot Gavin and won a gold medal at the Chelsea Flower Show in 2011.

Baltimore Beacon

Originally built atop the edge of a cliff on the Wild Atlantic Way as a navigational tool for boats entering the harbour, Baltimore Beacon is now one of West Cork’s most iconic tourist attractions. An extraordinary location and area of natural wonder with views of Sherkin Island, this is a perfect spot to propose, leaving you with beautiful memories for years to come.

Port of Cork

For an iconic location with a little twist, we were surprised by what a beautiful backdrop the Port of Cork made for this Yellow for You proposal photoshoot. The perfect spot to propose when the heart of the person you are proposing to is firmly rooted in the rebel city.
